5 activities to keep your kids busy while you’re working
A lot of moms are looking for ways to work from home as an alternative to the soaring day care cost and the anxiety of leaving their kids in the care of strangers.
Finding a balance in your household while going through this transition is not always easy and in most cases takes some serious consideration. If your kids are anything like mine, the minute you sit down to work they will start demanding your immediate and undivided attention. With a little these changes will go much more smoothly and you’ll be on the road to success.
First, consider how many hours you plan on putting into your home business. Then subtract the time that you’ll be working while your children are asleep. For example, plan on working while your children take a nap (two hours) and after they go to bed (two hours). If you are planning on putting six hours a day into your business each day you now only have two hours to fill!
Here are some suggestions on how to keep your kids busy while you work:
1.       Coloring: Set up a special area near your work space so that your kids can color or draw. This is a quiet activity that most children enjoy.
2.       Chores: Give your kids a list of tasks to complete, have them check in with you as they go along.
3.       Educational Media: Video games, television, movies and computer games can be educational and entertaining.
4.       Have a play date: Invite another child over to play, your child will have a great time and you’ll get some work done.
5.       Homework: If your children are school age, they can do their homework while you work.
Change in routine can be a challenge for children and parents. Structure and planning in all areas will maximize your ability to achieve your goals and all of your hard work will pay off.
